Have you ever looked up at the stars on a clear night, seen the vastness of the ocean, or the delicacy of a newborn child and thought that there MUST be a God behind all of this? All around us, creation shouts that there’s a creator behind it all. In this article, we’ll examine how the universe’s order, cause, and existence of love all undeniably point toward the fact there is a God.
First, let’s look into the order and design of the universe. Looking at the intricacy of DNA structures but also the vastness of the universe, we can see that this order could not have come randomly, out of chaos. On top of that, everything operates on precise constants, such as that of gravity, electromagnetism, nuclear forces, etc. Even if those were slightly varied, life would be impossible. This extraordinary coordination proves that the universe is not a product of chance, but that of intelligent and purposeful design. Jeremiah 10:12 states, “But God made the earth by His power; he founded the world by his power and stretched out the heavens by his understanding”. All of this calibration and order couldn’t have come from nothing, but rather by a loving God who fine-tuned everything for the benefit of all of mankind.
Next, we see how creation proves the existence of God because of love. If there is no God, then where does love actually come from? If the universe randomly came into existence and is just a blend of matter and energy, love is nothing more than chemical reactions in your brain, just like that of hunger and thirst. However, we know that love is more than just that. We strive for love that forgives, stays faithful, and favors others over ourselves. 1 John 4:7-8 says, “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” Love exists not because of random nerve firings in our brain, but because it comes from the One who created it; our God.
Finally, a simple but powerful argument that shows how Creation proves the existence of God. It is this statement; anything with a beginning has to have a cause. There is no case in which this is false. But how does this prove that God is really real? Take the universe. Scientifically, we have discovered that the universe is not eternal and that it had a beginning. That means it had to have a cause - the big bang. What caused the particles/energy that began it? Those had a beginning. Hebrews 3:4 says, “For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything”. God does not have a beginning (Psalm 90:2), which means he does not have a cause. He is the ultimate cause, the designer of the universe.
When you really stop and look at the universe - with its complexity, order, and love, it all points toward much more than random atoms interacting. It proves a Creator. The Bible not only says that God is real, but it shows how the Creation is His canvas, displaying his love, wisdom, and purpose. So next time you are looking at the stars, or the ocean, or a newborn baby, remind yourself that everything around you isn’t by chance, it was created by a powerful, intelligent God who loves you and has a purpose for your life.
